Significant progress on Bethlehem Shores development
The Arvida Bethlehem Shores care centre and apartments development is setting new standards in innovative and sustainable living.
The expansive $100 million project is Arvida’s largest single-stage development and promises to deliver new quality care and living options for residents.
Tauranga Mayor, Mahé Drysdale; Arvida Chief Executive, Jeremy Nicoll; and Bethlehem Ward Councillor, Kevin Schuler (pictured above) recently took a tour of the Tauranga development to see the progress made.
Scheduled for completion in December 2025, the development will feature 53 modern apartments and 55 care suites. These care suites, designed as part of a household model, will provide a homely environment where residents can enjoy privacy and receive the care they need, whether for rest home, hospital, or dementia-level care.
The construction process has been remarkable, utilising Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) to reduce noise and disruption. This method not only speeds up construction but also aligns with sustainable building practices. The building's primary structure is strong yet lightweight, ensuring durability and minimal environmental impact.
The development design takes full advantage of its scenic location, with apartments offering stunning views of the Kaimai ranges, Tauranga Harbour, and Mount Maunganui. Once completed, residents will enjoy a café, lounges, hair salon, craft room, kitchen and dining spaces, and three beautifully landscaped courtyards.
“We’re really pleased with how this development is progressing and I’m sure it will exceed expectations of a modern retirement and care community,” Mr Nicoll says.
The project is also designed to achieve both Homestar Level 7 and Lifemark ratings, ensuring that the living spaces are sustainable, warm, and adaptable. The ratings reflect a commitment to quality, making the Bethlehem Shores development a model of future living.
